EvaluationsMonTECH offers comprehensive assistive technology (AT) evaluations in the following functional domains:
Evaluations result in a formal report containing information and recommendations regarding the potential for the individual to benefit from specific devices in identified settings. Evaluations are conducted using a team approach that includes MonTECH staff with appropriate expertise in the specific AT area being addressed in coordination with the individual and their support team which may include family members, therapists, teachers and/or other service providers. An extensive pre-evaluation needs assessment is conducted so that pertinent information can be gathered from the individual and local teams to enable the evaluation process to address the functional concerns related to the specific environment(s) where the AT will be used. This information gathering includes videotapes, phone interviews and requests for previous documentation or reports that provide insight into the individual’s functional strengths and challenges. Evaluations are generally conducted at the Montana Technology Access Center, which is equipped with a variety of assistive technology tools. This inventory of devices facilitates the evaluation process and enables a flexible approach to trying a variety of AT options prior to making specific decisions and recommendations regarding what tool(s) will be most appropriate to address a specific functional concern. Fees are charged for evaluations and other follow-up services needed to assure successful acquisition and implementation of the recommended assistive technology solutions. Please contact the clinical coordinator using our local number 406.243.5486; our in-state toll free number 877.243.5511; or email Leslie Mullette for more information.
