Community Living

MonTECH is Montana’s comprehensive resource center for Assistive Technology (AT) devices, information, training, evaluations, demonstrations, and other AT related supports in the area of Community Living.  Community Living is the broad category involving Aids for Daily Living (ADL's) to help individuals with disabilities with such activities as eating, bathing, and dressing; recreation and leisure; and community living or other general lifestyle activities.  MonTECH's demonstration center and equipment loan program provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities, and/or their supports to evaluate appropriate AT before acquisition.  For more information regarding assistive technology services, equipment, or funding, please contact MonTECH.

AT solutions in the Community Living category maximize the independence of individuals with disabilities and the aging as they encounter barriers to daily activities.  MonTECH offers for loan a wide variety of AT devices for Community Living, including: adapted kitchen utensils and appliances, memory/organizational devices, and tools for gardening and other handcrafts.  Recreational devices available include boardgame and dice adaptations, assistive fishing and hunting devices, and other sporting adaptations.  Daily Living equipment available includes digital magnifiers and various CCTV's for reading, large-screen and large-print devices, and environmental control units and solutions.  Come visit our fully equipped accessible kitchen and demonstration center to explore this wide variety of Community Living AT devices.

MonTECH exists at the University of Montana Rural Institute on Disabilities as an assistive technology resource center to assist individuals with disabilities across the lifespan in their pursuit of independence.  We provide information and assistance, services, and technological resources to assist all Montanans statewide.  Our Equipment Loan program offers solutions to help individuals with a wide variety of disabilities make proper decisions before purchasing AT devices.
