Montana Adaptive Equipment Program (MAEP) offers adaptive equipment services
to Montanans with developmental disabilities. These services include an
equipment recycle program, equipment loan, purchase of new equipment,
and professional evaluations for determination of appropriate adaptive
equipment.
Program participants must be eligible for services through the Developmental
Disabilities Program, Department of Public Health and Human Services.
MAEP will work directly with primary occupational and physical therapists,
case managers, durable medical equipment suppliers, participants and family
members around the state to ensure provision of the most appropriate adaptive
equipment. When needed, MAEP will assist a consumer and/or family in locating
an experienced adaptive equipment therapist.
The MAEP equipment recycle program is located in Missoula but services
the entire state of Montana. MAEP has an eclectic range of adaptive
equipment that consists of new and used devices that have been purchased
or donated
to the program. This equipment can be used for evaluation and trial
purposes and can be given to participants when long term loan is appropriate.
New equipment purchased through MAEP is equipment that would not be
covered through an individual’s primary insurance, such as a back
up wheelchair, a car seat, a positioning seat for home, or a grab bar.
Due to limited funds, equipment services are prioritized according
to needs, and no more than $800 per year per person can be spent on
equipment for program participants.
For inquiries regarding MAEP services or donations contact MAEP via email.
