Education Consulting Services

The federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) ensures that public schools provide to children with disabilities the most appropriate education possible in the least restrictive settings. This law governs how states and public agencies provide early intervention, special education and related services to infants, toddlers, children and youth with disabilities.

Assistive Technology (AT) is often necessary to offer students with disabilities access to the appropriate education they deserve and are legally mandated to receive.

MonTECH staff can provide consultative services to consumers and professionals related to the acquisition and implementation of AT. Examples of consultative services beyond those offered by MonTECH’s MATP program include:

  • Review of previous evaluations or assessments performed by other sources to provide an opinion about appropriate AT options to consider for an individual.
  • Guidance provided to professionals directly involved in assessing the AT needs of an individual.
  • Analysis of videotapes of an individual using technology for the purpose of making suggestions or recommendations.
  • Meeting with school teams to guide them through the process of making decisions regarding AT appropriate for a student and to assist with setting up a plan for implementation
