In celebration of National Assistive Technology Awareness Day, MonTECH is proud to present a free screening of “This Is Not About Me” in Missoula on April 17th. This screening also marks the kick-off of intense planning for MontCOMM ’24, our sixth annual conference focused solely on alternative ways to communicate (scheduled for August 9th – it’s going to rock!).
“This Is Not About Me” features Jordyn Zimmerman, a nonspeaking autistic woman. The 57-minute film explores what it’s like “to be autistic and nonspeaking in a world that has already made up its mind about you.” Our team was introduced to Jordyn at MontCOMM ’23, when Isaac Baldry interviewed her about life as an AAC user (simultaneously teaching a valuable lesson on AAC etiquette that resonated with our conference attendees). We look forward to witnessing her journey through this award-winning film.
